Why Irrational Decided Not to Work on Bioshock 2

As fans of the series are surely aware, the developer of the original Bioshock, Irrational Games, opted out of developing its sequel, which was handled by 2K Marin instead.

…understandably wanted another game in Rapture, he says in an interview with Eurogamer.
But we felt we had said what we wanted to say about Rapture, about those kind of environments and that kind of feel.
We want to scare the hell out of people, we want to shock people, but we didn t want to have any of the tools, the crutches, that we knew how to do that with. Despite not being directly involved with the development of Bioshock 2, Levine was a consultant on the project. When asked what he thought of the game, he had the following to say: I think it s a very talented team, and I think it fulfilled the mission of completing the story of Rapture. Irrational Games revealed their secret Project Icarus as Bioshock: Infinite yesterday, and it will be released for PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 sometime in 2012. Source: Eurogamer…

Microsoft officially axes the PC version of the game.

Why, you ask? Well, according to this statement by a Microsoft spokesperson, as said to Strategy Informer, the PC version is canned:
“Some games are more suited for the intimacy of the PC, and others are best played from the couch in front of a larger TV screen. The Horrors of GameStop

Where any other company would honor its employees for effective sales skills with a paycheck bonus or an increase in hours, GameStop rewards its employees with letting them keep their jobs.

…My extensive experience with GameStop has left me a bit jaded towards the corporate side of gaming. Working with the company made me miserable. I started as a Neophyte like many teenagers do with a profound optimism just waiting to be crushed. While I was told I was going to be thrown head first into the world of gaming, I soon found out I was thrown head first into the world of unrewarding sales. After an intense preliminary training, I was informed by management that my main purpose as an employee was to upsale as many game presales and magazine subscriptions as possible. Where any other company would honor its employees for effective sales skills with a paycheck bonus or an increase in hours, GameStop rewards its employees with letting them keep their jobs. At first, I fell for the lie that being an exemplary upseller would result in a promotion. Slowly and surely, I started to realize GameStop’s bizarre hiring practices would insure that The Meat and The Stooge would always hold a higher position than me…
